Our property is a one of a kind for its privacy, woodland, gorgeous blue lake for swimming and boating and the history that has created what we have today
My name is Pauline Blades and I am the owner and at your service to create the best holiday ever at our vacation property. Our guests this year are experiencing our newly renovated cottage property with all the bells and whistles and showed their appreciation with all Five Star ratings.
Our beautiful photos show not only spring and summer but our beautiful fall and winter as we are open for Christmas and New Years in 2022.
Our property with privacy on gorgeous Lake Deception is rare. 62 acres of land allow guests to feel they have it all and for those interested in wildlife, deer can often be seen bounding through the woods. Birds (a new hobby) wake me up in the morning as the mist rises off the lake.
A refreshing walk or canoe or kayak on a bright sunny day is awesome. This summer I invested in a double adult kayak and two mango colored youth kayaks. My grandchildren love them and so will your children or grandchildren.
The Fall is stunning at Morning Mist Cottage. So much to do. We have two outside fireplaces and a wood burning in the cottage. Wood is abundant and nothing better than the crackle of a fire.
Morning Mist Cottage has huge pine trees and hardwoods of maple, oak, ash and birch. Walk through our forest or bike and hike through the many trails in Shelburne County.
This year I offer accommodation for eight guests (nine at most) that can completely house the main cottage double occupancy. The main cottage & property are truly a 5 star accommodation.
As well, I have a vintage “bunkhouse” that has a queen bed and two bunks. Young and old love the bunkhouse. Please have a look at some of our new photos. More to come.
I will soon have a story about the renovation that began on November 1, 2020 after having been booked back to back from June until November with “stay vacations” in 2020.
Not only was the cottage redone the property was fully landscaped and our docks were extended to include a yoga platform/dock to fit 16 yoga enthusiasts.
Morning Mist is distinctive for its abundance of woodland, privacy, lake for swimming and boating and its history. More work is planned for 2022 with a functioning toilet and quaint outhouse, new gazebo, refurbished sauna.
Everything in the downstairs has been gutted and put back together with modern decor but keeping our beautiful rustic appeal.
We have a brand new country kitchen, a cook’s delight. All new appliances! The floors are glistening and our beach stone and brick fireplace has maple mantles cut from our forest. We have had nothing but Five Star Ratings from all our guests.
My property was stunning without updating however, I am, as well as, my guests in love with the accomplishment.
This lakefront property with 62 acres of woodland is suitable for families, couples, female and male retreats, honeymooners and lots of children.
My rates are for two guests with additional guests starting at $25.00 per night for each additional guest up to eight.
The main cottage can accommodate 6 guests and a pull out in the loft for one or two more. Our vintage bunkhouse can accommodate four guests. I accept babies under 24 months for free.
We offer comfortable beds, three fireplaces, a dry and steam cedar sauna, jet massage whirlpool tub in the master bedroom and everything you can think of to have a very special holiday.
As last year, we are following the guidelines for Covid-19 and have increased all aspects of our cleaning and sanitation.
This secluded property of water and woodland is a step back to simplicity with countless amenities. Our privacy allows guests to connect with nature and a sense of peace.
We offer everything… canoes with life jackets, one kayak, firewood, outdoor fire pit and Geo Dome, swings and adventure in the forest for children.
Everything is included, a new Weber BBQ, indoor stone fireplace, propane outdoor fireplace and our new round wood burning fire pit. Lots of space to move and do on this property.
For those looking for a spring and summer holiday the lake is great for swimming by the first of June and much earlier if using the sauna. Our guests have loved a dip in the lake and is refreshing in May and often swimming is possible in October and November after a hot sauna.
This cottage is unique to Nova Scotia with “never before cut”(except the 100 trees which came down during Dorian) hardwood and pine towering 80 feet in the air which today is barely noticable.
It has been a blessing but a costly one during clean up. We now have patches of sunshine in the forest for playing, hiking and a new perennial garden that loves the sun overlooking the lake
Whether you are a single person, group, couple or a family with children this gorgeous retreat will entertain and delight all.
Only twenty minutes away are pristine isolated white sand beaches…The Sand Hills Beach and Roseway just a stones throw away heralding the sound and smell of salt water flowing with the tides.
The Sand Hills beach in particular has the warmest ocean water around if the tide is coming in on a hot day. My children and I often left the cottage when the conditions were perfect at the beach to return to the quiet and tranquility of the lake.
Twenty minutes away we have a nine hole Golf Club named River Hills Golf and Country Club and just a mere 17 minutes away you can enjoy our historic town of Shelburne offering fine dining, the home of the third largest natural harbor in the world.
The historic waterfront was the site of the film The Scarlet Letter starring Demi Moore.

Twenty minutes away we have a nine hole Golf Club named River Hills Golf and Country Club and just a mere 17 minutes away you can enjoy our historic town of Shelburne offering fine dining, the home of the third largest natural harbor in the world.
The historic waterfront was the site of the film The Scarlet Letter starring Demi Moore.
