History

My husband and I were married on the land just before I spent three months on Paradise Island in the Bahamas in my first of many yoga teacher trainings at the Sivananda Yoga Ashram.  When I returned we built a small cottage with no power or running water except for a water pump we had in the kitchen.

My first of four children was born not long after and with the arrival of three more beautiful babies we expanded Morning Mist Cottage with a second section and added plumbing and electricity.

About 25 years ago I became the sole owner of Morning Mist Cottage.  Over the past two and one half decades I have chipped away at upgrading the cottage with new windows and doors, roofs, decks, docks, fire pits, decorating and 101 other renovations that have kept us excitedly busy.

In November of 2020 I began a 10 month renovation; a lifelong dream for the property.

The whole of the living room dining room kitchen was gutted with new wiring, insulation, floors, fireplace kitchen and new modern comfortable furniture.

We did work in every section of the cottage from top to bottom.  Work continued throughout the fall of 2021 with more work scheduled for 2022.

We are a five star accommodation with all the bells and whistles.  The renovation certainty had its challenges during a pandemic but the end result was more stunning than I could have imagined.  We all love it and you will too.

What has remained the same over the years is the pristine lake, the natural forest with trees that tower like few places in this part of Nova Scotia, the serenity that is felt as you approach the cottage and the wildlife that is as abundant as it was years ago.

The cottage, woodland and lake are ideal for families wanting to experience the earth and all its beauty, to get away from gadgets and screens and turn back the clock to a time when nature  was valuable to a life worth living.

Experience the outdoors with all modern amenities….Find contentment, peace, laughter and love…We welcome you to come home to your heart at Morning Mist Cottage.
